Module 4
Understanding my own limits and working with them.
Knowledge Gain:
Completing this week has been an interesting journey. I started off very organised, with a to do list and a plan that included study time blocks. Unfortunately, this didn’t quite work out in practice. As a new mum with a 10 month hold, I’ve quickly and confidently realised that studying now is very different from studying before motherhood. Nevertheless, I’m determined to find a routine that works, one that fits around my baby’s sleep schedule and allows me to stay focused enough to learn and thrive.
After this week’s lecture, I revisited the topic of learning styles. For the longest time, I believed my learning and memory style was primarily visual. I used to colour code and draw my notes to help me study. However, I now feel more aligned with kinaesthetic and procedural learning. After going through the modules, I find it helpful to reflect and make real life connections to what I’ve learned. This approach has been effective in helping me retain new terms and information.
Challenges:
This week's challenge was to navigating all the required pages and resources. I'm aiming to explore the recommended tools such as Linkedin and Success coach. I have added a reminder to create time next week and explore these sources.
Successes & Strengths:
This weeks success was working on two assessment tasks for Bespoke communication and Graphic communication assessment task one.
I have noticed my strengths are getting a start on assessments and determine to have a little started before deep diving into the whole task.
Application:
Networking was mentioned during the lecture. Although I am currently studying entirely online and unable to attend classes in person, I initially thought this might limit my opportunities to connect and collaborate with peers. However, I’ve made an effort to contribute to discussions and respond to others, with the hope of sparking conversations and creating opportunities for brainstorming and shared learning.
Areas for improvement:
This week I have no noticed a an area that requires improvement. I may in the coming weeks when there is more to learn.
Goals:
This weeks goals;
- Stay on task
- Keep up with activities and readings
- Connect with peers
Knowledge Gained: What did I learn this week, academically and personally?
This week has been both interesting and a bit challenging. Personally, I found it difficult to locate tabs, access resources, and listen to the recorded content. To manage this, I created a checklist and a follow-up list, which helped me stay on top of tasks and not miss anything important.
Academically, I felt a renewed sense of creativity and enthusiasm. The learning environment has sparked my interest, and I’m excited to see what the coming weeks will bring.
Challenges: What obstacles did I face, and how did I overcome them?
I initially felt overwhelmed by the amount of information and navigating platforms like the Student Hub, My Learn, and Teams. However, I’ve started to build confidence by using these tools regularly. Writing down how to access and use these resources has helped and it turned out to be useful for an assessment task too.
Successes & Strengths: What successes or strengths did I recognise in myself this week?
I was able to re-watch recorded sessions, explore course platforms independently, take notes, and do some research in preparation for the following week. These actions showed my ability to self-direct and stay engaged.
Application: How can I apply what I have learned?
Taking things one week at a time will help me avoid feeling overwhelmed. I’ve learned not to pressure myself too much to be instantly creative ,using the provided resources and doing my own research will naturally spark ideas and inspiration.
Areas for Improvement: What skills or knowledge would I like to develop further?
At this stage, I haven’t identified specific areas needing extra support. However, this may change in Week 2 or once I begin working on assessments.
Goals: Based on my reflections, what personal goals can I set for the coming week?
